Afghan, Ethiopian, Traditional Asian Cultural Weddings

Betsy Jones, Senior Sales & Catering Manager at the Sheraton National, took us inside various ethnic cultures to provide insight for our businesses to cater to this wedding market.  The Sheraton National is one of the premiere venues in the Washington, DC Metro area that hosts elaborate & colorful ethnic weddings, and Betsy is at the helm of coordinating and organizing these large events.

If you missed it, here is what she discussed:

  • The demographics; Who are they and where are they from?
  • What are traditional activities or events that occur during their weddings?
  • Common ethnic wedding terminology.
  • Resources to find other wedding professionals that specialize in ethnic weddings.
  • How this community is important to our wedding industry?
  • What percentage of the wedding market does this culture pertain?
  • The average wedding size and cost.
  • The style of wedding menu.
  • Wedding décor, Embellishments, Wedding Garments.
  • Etiquette; things we should know when dealing with the various cultures so that we do not offend anyone.
  • Venues in the Washington DC area that are known for hosting cultural weddings .
  • How this type of bride differs from the American Bride, and how are they similar?
  • Learning the type of wedding ceremony and its formal name.

A Big THANK YOU to Betsy Jones, Matthew Heiss from Mount Vernon, and everyone who came out and enjoyed this program.
